ופלשתאי אגחו קרבא בישראל ואפכו אנש ישראל מן פלשתאי ונפלו קטילין בחרבא בטורא דגלבוע:
dglbwe bTwra bkhrba qTylyn wnplw plshthay mn yshral ansh wapkw byshral qrba agkhw wplshthay
Now the Philistines fought against Israel; and the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and fell down slain on Mount Gilboa.

ואדביקו פלשתאי ית יונתן וית אבינדב וית מלכישוע בני שאול:
shawl bny mlkyshwe wyth abyndb wyth ywnthn yth plshthay wadbyqw
The Philistines followed hard after Saul and after his sons; and the Philistines killed Jonathan, Abinadab, and Malchishua, the sons of Saul.

ותקיפו עבדי קרבא על שאול ואשכחוהי קשתיא דאומנין מיגר בקשתא ודחיל מן קשתיא:
qshthya mn wdkhyl bqshtha mygr dawmnyn qshthya washkkhwhy shawl el qrba ebdy wthqypw
The battle went hard against Saul, and the archers overtook him; and he was distressed by reason of the archers.

ואמר שאול לנטיל זינוי שלוף סיפך וקטולני בה דלמא ייתון ערליא אלין ויתלעבון בי ולא צבא נטיל זיניה ארום הוה דחיל לחדא ונסיב שאול ית סיפא ואתרמא עלה:
elh wathrma sypa yth shawl wnsyb lkhda dkhyl hwh arwm zynyh nTyl tsba wla by wythlebwn alyn erlya yythwn dlma bh wqTwlny sypk shlwp zynwy lnTyl shawl wamr
Then Saul said to his armor bearer, “Draw your sword, and thrust me through with it, lest these uncircumcised come and abuse me.” But his armor bearer would not, for he was terrified. Therefore Saul took his sword and fell on it.

וחמא נטיל זיניה ארום מית שאול ואתרמא אוף הוא על סיפא ומית:
wmyth sypa el hwa awp wathrma shawl myth arwm zynyh nTyl wkhma
When his armor bearer saw that Saul was dead, he likewise fell on his sword and died.

ומית שאול ותלת בנוי וכל אנש ביתיה דהוו תמן כחדא מיתו:
mythw kkhda thmn dhww bythyh ansh wkl bnwy wthlth shawl wmyth
So Saul died with his three sons; and all his house died together.

וחמון כל אנש ישראל די במישרא ארום אפכו וארום מיתו שאול ובנוי ושבקו קרויהון ואפכו ואתו פלשתאי ויתיבו בהון:
bhwn wythybw plshthay wathw wapkw qrwyhwn wshbqw wbnwy shawl mythw warwm apkw arwm bmyshra dy yshral ansh kl wkhmwn
When all the men of Israel who were in the valley saw that they fled, and that Saul and his sons were dead, they abandoned their cities, and fled; and the Philistines came and lived in them.

והוה ביומא חרן ואתו פלשתאי לערסילא ית קטיליא ואשכחו ית שאול וית תלת בנוי קטילין רמן על טורא דגלבוע:
dglbwe Twra el rmn qTylyn bnwy thlth wyth shawl yth washkkhw qTylya yth lersyla plshthay wathw khrn bywma whwh
On the next day, when the Philistines came to strip the slain, they found Saul and his sons fallen on Mount Gilboa.

וחלצוהו ואתיזו ית רישיה וית זינוי ושדו בארעא פלשתאי חזור חזור למבשרא ית בית טעותהון וית עמא:
ema wyth Tewthhwn byth yth lmbshra khzwr khzwr plshthay barea wshdw zynwy wyth ryshyh yth wathyzw wkhltswhw
They stripped him and took his head and his armor, then sent into the land of the Philistines all around to carry the news to their idols and to the people.

ושויאו ית זינוי בית טעותהון וית גלגלתיה זקפו על זיקפא קבל טעות דגון:
dgwn Tewth qbl zyqpa el zqpw glglthyh wyth Tewthhwn byth zynwy yth wshwyaw
They put his armor in the house of their gods, and fastened his head in the house of Dagon.

ושמעו כל אנשי יבש גלעד ית כל מה דעבדו פלשתאי לשאול:
lshawl plshthay debdw mh kl yth gled ybsh anshy kl wshmew
When all Jabesh Gilead heard all that the Philistines had done to Saul,

וקמו כל גבר גבר ונטלו ית גושמא דשאול וית גושמי בנוי ואיתיאנון ליבש וקברו ית גרמיהון תחות בוטמא דביבש וצמו שבעא יומין:
ywmyn shbea wtsmw dbybsh bwTma thkhwth grmyhwn yth wqbrw lybsh waythyanwn bnwy gwshmy wyth dshawl gwshma yth wnTlw gbr gbr kl wqmw
all the valiant men arose and took away the body of Saul and the bodies of his sons, and brought them to Jabesh, and buried their bones under the oak in Jabesh, and fasted seven days.

ומית שאול מטול שקריה דשקר במימרא דיי מטול פתגמא דיי דלא נטר באגחותיה קרבא בדבית עמלק ואוף דשאיל בבדין למתבע מנהון אולפנא:
awlpna mnhwn lmthbe bbdyn dshayl wawp emlq bdbyth qrba bagkhwthyh nTr dla dyy pthgma mTwl dyy bmymra dshqr shqryh mTwl shawl wmyth
So Saul died for his trespass which he committed against Yahweh, because of Yahweh’s word, which he didn’t keep, and also because he asked counsel of one who had a familiar spirit, to inquire,

ולא תבע אולפנא מן קדם יי באוריה ותומיה על דקטל כהניא די בנוב וקטליה יי וסקף ית מלכותא לדוד בר ישי:
yshy br ldwd mlkwtha yth wsqp yy wqTlyh bnwb dy khnya dqTl el wthwmyh bawryh yy qdm mn awlpna thbe wla
and didn’t inquire of Yahweh. Therefore he killed him, and turned the kingdom over to David the son of Jesse.
